Important Updates on Telehealth, Prescriptions, and Office Policies

How does N.J.S.A 45:1-62€ and N.J.A.C. 13:35 – 6B.6 affect you?
Over 18 years old
We would like to update you with some important information.  During Covid the DCA allowed Telehealth health visit for controlled substances.  The DCA has since terminated this waiver.  What does this mean to our patients.   Patients that are being prescribed Schedule II CDS medications over the age of 18 can no longer do telehealth visits.  This does affect our college students.  The new rule mandates that patients be seen every 90 days to obtain a script.  For those away at college, you may need to obtain a physician near your college location to receive medications.  We ask that all patients make their appointments before leaving the office so that they will not run out of medicine.   We have night and Saturday appointments available.

Applies ONLY to patients under 18
Requires real-time audio and video (audio only is not sufficient)
*   Requires written parental/guardian consent specifically waiving in-person requirements

Revised New Jersey Observer Regulation (N.J.A.C.  13:35 -6:23)
You will notice signs in our office as well as all patient rooms.  You will also be asked to sign a form once a year. In short, you have a right to request an observer present during examinations that include private areas.  More information is available in our offices.
